Bring it on... the snow that is!

Snow is dumping down from the sky and it is about damn time! I'm no weather girl, but I'm predicting a few feet by day's end.

The ski resort is now completely open and all of our skiiers, snowboarders and locals couldn't be happier about the news! I'm not too sure I would be out in this weather today, but luckily for us... I'm at Scarpe working so the decision of the day is to stay inside- warm and dry!

This week mark's Telluride's involvement in World Cup Snowboarding! The coarses have been set up and now it just comes down to pure competition! Yippee!

So, our gang of Telluride visitors... where are you? The snow is here; we've got world class competition going; restaurants are finally open; town is decorated to the gills; entertainment is in full force! We miss you all and can't wait to see your smiling faces this holiday season!

The snow is coming... where are our ski bunnies?

The ski resort has been open for weeks now and we haven't had any snow in quite some time... where is all the snow??

Well I... along with the weather channel... have some great news for you! The snow is on its way and we couldn't be much happier about it! Snow is expected for tomorrow and a full on blizzard is expected for Monday... YIPEE!!!

Soon all of the trees, streets and most importantly... the ski runs will be covered in a beautiful blanket of white!

Now, because we will have perfect ski conditions I fully expect to see all of you out-of-towner ski bunnies back in town and in holiday spirit mode! That means lots of parties, smiles and most important of all- shopping for your loved ones this holiday season!

Not sure who to buy for or what to get them exactly? Let the girls at Scarpe help! We've got all kinds of gift ideas for almost everyone on your list! Baby gifts for babies and moms to be, body products for the women (and dry skinned men) in your life, clothes for the ladies and chocolate for everyone!

If you have a bunch of new friends this year, maybe get them all taken care of in one swoop by hosting your own holiday gift exchange? You could have a secret santa party, white elephant, a little holiday "spirit" exchange!

By the way... if anyone has an ugly Christmas sweater they can loan me, I'd really appreciate it. We're hosting our annual Ugly Christmas Sweater party at my place and as the host I really have to be dressed to impress... the uglier (or tackier) the sweater, the better!- Meghan

One reason we have such loyal customers here at Scarpe is our customer service and ability to put women in clothes that make them feel great about themselves. Just the other day we received praise from one such customer...

You see many customers coming through the door of your adorable shop. But let me refresh your memory of my visit and tell you a fun story. Last February I was skiing with several friends. Kris from Taos, and I were tired of skiing so we decided to take a break. My friend Claire also from Columbus urged me to stop into Scarpe while I was in Telluride. So Kris and I did. You were there and sold me many pieces I didn't think I really needed but have enjoyed so much and worn over and over. Kris, a past owner of a great boutique loved the way you put things together on me, too. Thanks! But the real story follows.

I was reunioning with some college friends in San Francisco. We were casually shopping , more like window shopping, at some cute shops while I said, you know I have only met a couple of people who can really dress me, explaining my time at your shop. Diane, from Chicago, started to laugh, she had the same experience with you, too! She said is that the person from Hinsdale who just had the baby? So here we are in San Francisco talking about our experiences in your shop which didn't occur at the same time nor did we know each other had ever shopped with you. BTW, we were both wearing our favorite scarves at the time. And guess where they were from? Yep, Scarpe!

Happy Birthday Will- 1 Year Old!!!

You heard right... our very own store baby just turned one and every passing day, I swear this little guy just keeps getting cuter and cuter (no this is not his mom posting this blog)


To celebrate his new found maturity, Will has recently accomplished the following:

• Taking steps!
• New dance moves
• Eating Big Boy food- just today he had ham, cheese and goldfish crackers, although ice cream and rice pudding are the little man's favorites!
• Finding his very own fashion sense- which models after his mother's if you'll notice the scarf :)

Okay... now you believe me- he's SO cute, and he's not just adorable, but he's driven too. After having a conversation with this one year old, I've found that he has set many goals for himself to achieve before his next birthday.

In the coming year, Will plans on...

• Learning the hula in Hawaii
• Becoming a professional baby skier... he's already got the gear!
• Learning to walk
• Talking
• Filling the very big shoes you see him in below :)
• and finally... Assisting in the buying for Next Door- he's got big ideas!

Pia is here!

Good news everyone! If you've stopped by the store recently, you probably noticed another smiling face greeting you at the door, and if you didn't already guess who it is from the title of my blog... it's that of our very own Pia!

Back from her travels to India and China, she's here for only a few more days before she heads to BURNING MAN for another experience of a lifetime! Be sure to come by and say hi... she will be back for a little while in September and October though, so if you miss her this time, not to worry!

Bring Back the SUN!

It's been a week of rainy weather here in beautiful Telluride, and although the rain is helping us tremendously, I say "bring back the sun!"

We've got plenty of cute SUN dresses, SUNglasses, sandals and other fun spring and summer apparel that is just begging to be worn around town! New lines like Kate Organics and Odd Molly and some of our old favorites like Max Studio and 7 for All Mankind are amazing right now... We've got GREAT stuff from Haute Hippie Nude and many others on its way too!

So, in preparation for the sun's comeback, let's stock up on those great summer pieces and stop with the rain dances! The valley is green, the river is a flowin' and if you're like me I think you'll agree... Mr. Sun- It's about damn time... come out already!

Unseasonably Warm...

It's January in Telluride and today the thermometer reads 41 degrees?

Yep! That's right... We've had an absolutely beautiful past week here, with bluebird skies and sunshine galore! According to those who were around Telluride last January, these temperatures are not a usual sight for this time of year, but I'm going to soak up this sunshine and wear less layers while I can!

Skiiers and snowboarders are still enjoying the snow on the mountain and we've got A LOT more headed our way for Thursday and the days to follow, so not to worry... fresh powder will present it self soon enough!

For now... don't forget that sunscreen and maybe leave that extra capalene at home... I don't think you'll be needing it today!

Here's an idea- for Apres Ski today, how about heading down to Scarpe and giving me a visit! We've got a bunch of cute stuff in and as usual... more on the way!
