Spring Trends at Scarpe

With only 3 weeks until Spring officially surfaces, Scarpe is having a major case of Spring Fever!

Recently we have gotten flooded with handfuls of linen basics by Hartford and Vince, stunning organic dresses from Rogan, and sandals from CocoBelle that will revive any foot feeling the winter blues! For those who posted themselves in front of the television this past Sunday evening to watch Adele completely sweep every award category at the 2012 Grammy Awards, you may have seen this little commercial for, the Colorado based eatery, Chiptole, and totally forgotten that you were watching the iconic Coldplay perform live on stage. Don't you feel ashamed because the Chipotle commercial, that first aired in August, had its T.V debut during the Grammys and stole the show! And get this- there is even talk about an Oscar in Chiptole's future! Coldplay's live performance went without credit, while the commercial, which featured Willie Nelson covering  Coldplay's "The Scientist," is the talk of the town.

Now Unveiling: Fall 2012

A few weeks ago, while shopping the LA showrooms, we were blinded by the fluorescent colors that seemed to pop up everywhere! The showrooms were paved in neon! Electric Blue denim, Hot Pink crop tops, and Lime aide summer sweaters mocked us as we gravitated towards the pastels and stripes.

NYC Fashion Week kicks off today, leaving the entire fashion industry at the edge of their seats. Per usual , during Fashion Week, designers introduce new- and perhaps frightening- trends to the public. The industry stands at attention, drops everything, and worships this single week. Yes, it is quite exciting, however I believe the praise should be put on the public, the "commoners" if you will, for making the final decisions as to what the season's It Trend will be.

For example, last fashion week as the forecasters and editors embedded the A/W '11 trends into stone (or glossy magazine pages- call it what you may) and sealed their vows with a kiss, not one prediction put the emphasis on light,skinny pants anchored by mid-calf booties. With no end to this trend in sight, look around, and guaranteed you will be amongst at least a handful of females wearing this phenomenon.
The point being: today, the world will be exposed to what the designers want you to wear next fall, the industry will absorb and live one extreme to the next, and come next fall, after this week is said and done with, we will see if this Fashion Week made an impression on us at all or if it was just a bunch of bologna.
